Our History
It all began in 1972, when a sawmill was founded on Avenida El Ferrocarril in Medellín, Colombia. Its founders, Luis Eduardo Restrepo and Juan Diego Restrepo Villegas, worked hard to turn the company into an important lumber distributor in the city, especially structural timber.
Early years
Over the years, the company continued to grow and moved to a larger winery in 1998. However, it was in 2002 when the new generation joined the company, through Daniel Restrepo, son of Juan Diego and grandson of Luis Eduardo. Daniel brought with him new ideas and began to open a new line of products, such as flooring, and was also in charge of opening the export channel, achieving the company’s first export of wood in 2004 to Israel.
In 2010, Juan Eduardo Restrepo, Daniel’s brother, joined the company with the idea of a brand transformation. He wanted to stop being just a sawmill and become a recognized brand and market leader.
PTo achieve this, they began to offer all kinds of wood products, such as coverings, flooring, decks and ceilings, and became the absolute market leaders. Their goal was to bring luxury and status to each of the projects they worked on.
First boutiqueSince 1972
In 2015, ECR took a big step by entering the North American market, mainly in the cities of Miami and New York. Two years later, in 2017, a wood showroom was opened in Alto de Palmas in Medellín, becoming the brand’s first boutique store.
The company continued to grow and position itself as a national luxury brand, being recognized for its commitment to sustainability and for promoting the use of wood in Colombia.
The future
In 2022, ECR took another great leap in its international expansion by opening its first boutique store in Miami, located at 2370 west 8 LN hialeah Florida 33010. The company continues to be synonymous with luxury and quality, offering wood products of the highest standard, providing a sense of warmth and well-being to each of its customers through excellence and a non-negotiable commitment to sustainability.
In 50 years, ECR has become a leader in the luxury wood market and continues to be the maximum reference in Colombia.
